We want everyone to be able to use this website, in English or Arabic, whatever device or assistive technology they use.

Our target
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. The site has not yet been audited by an independent party, so we don’t claim full conformance.
What the site does
- Keyboard access
- Every link, button and form field can be reached and used with a keyboard, and the focused element always shows a visible outline.
- Skip link
- A “Skip to content” link is the first thing on every page.
- Reduced motion
- If your device asks for reduced motion, the site turns off its scroll animations and the home page film stays a still image.
- The home page film
- The film has its own pause button and pauses when you scroll past it. It never starts on its own if your device asks for reduced motion. In browsers that report data-saver mode or a slow connection, it also stays a still image.
- Light and dark themes
- The site follows your device’s light or dark setting. You can also switch with the theme button in the header, and your browser remembers the choice.
- English and Arabic
- Every page is available in full in English and Arabic, and the Arabic pages read right to left. Words in the other language are marked as such, so screen readers can pronounce them correctly.
- Text alternatives
- Images that carry information, such as the product screenshots and the falaj photograph, have text alternatives. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Forms
- Every field in the contact form has a visible label. If something is missing or wrong, the error is written next to the field and linked to it, and focus moves to the first field to fix.
- The contour map
- The Jebel Shams map on the Vision 2040 page works with the arrow keys and with a contour-level slider. It announces the elevation and coordinates when you move the crosshair with the arrow keys; the slider announces the height. The map’s caption describes the area in words, and if the interactive map can’t load, a static map is shown instead.
Known limitations
- The contour map is primarily visual. The readout gives heights and coordinates as text and the caption describes the area, but the shape of the terrain can only be seen.
- The home page film has no audio and no audio description. It is decorative, and the line beneath the headline says what it shows.

About this statement
We prepared this statement on from our own review of the site. We’ll update it when the site changes.
Before launch we checked the site with automated tests in both languages and both themes, and by hand with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, TalkBack on Android, NVDA on Windows, the keyboard alone, and zoom up to 200%.
